In this 7 week small group class, we will explore drawing and painting with ink using pens, markers, brush pens, paint brushes, and ink + water to create unique works on paper and aquabord panels.

Each week of this class will focus on different ways of applying ink through specific brushstroke techniques and surfaces that highlight the unique quality of drawn and painted ink in a variety of subject matters including still life, landscape, portraits, and abstraction.

Week 1:
Mark making, washes, and layering fields of color

Week 2:
Drawing with a paintbrush + water, then dropping ink into the "water drawing" using provided still life imagery like fruits and vegetables as well as provided reference images of landscapes

Week 3:
Drips, inky bleeds, and strategic splatters using organic still using provided still life objects from nature like feathers, dried flowers, leaves, etc.

Week 4:
"Less is more"-implied lines and suggesting forms using transparent still life objects like glasses and bottles and/or landscape images

Week 5:
"More is more"-drawing and painting with ink on book pages using provided high contrast images

Week 6:
Color studies: landscapes and/or tablescapes

Week 7:
Monochromatic portraits in walnut ink

Policies & Procedures

This class needs a minimum number of 3 students to enroll before the class can “make.” If the minimum enrollment has not been met 48 hours before the class begins, the class will be canceled/rescheduled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by telephone or email, and may transfer to a different class or be issued a refund (see refund procedure).

Cancellation / Refunds
Program attendance is the responsibility of the participant. Failure to attend a class does not entitle a participant to a transfer, makeup, prorate or refund. No refunds are issued for registrations that are cancelled without 7 days' advance notice of the class day. Refund requests made prior to 7 days before the class date will be paid in full.

Transfers
Failure to attend a class does not entitle a participant to a transfer, makeup, prorate or refund. If Adrienne cancels a class due to low enrollment, you are welcome to transfer your enrollment to another class/the rescheduled date of this class.
